Austin Ramirez Comments on Changing Economy in Wisconsin

January 2016 marks another new year of facing challenges in a recovering economy, but HUSCO CEO Austin Ramirez, sees opportunities for growth in Wisconsin.  In a recent interview by Mike Gousha for WISN 12, Austin Ramirez and two other local business leaders, Aaron Olver, (Managing Director at University Research Park) and Mary Ellen Stanek (Managing Director and Director of Asset Management at Baird), were questioned on their 2016 economic outlooks.

Mike Gousha is the host of the segment UpFront, by WISN 12 which airs live on Sundays at 9:30am. UpFront is a State wide political show in which Mike Gousha tackles the State’s toughest political topics at times with the help of respected local business professionals.

The three business leaders shared optimistic views of a successful economic year across the state; however, they also agreed that there will be some hindrances to potential growth. Austin Ramirez cited Milwaukee’s attributes that include the city’s diverse culture, educational offerings, lakefront activities, vibrant entertainment scene and thriving entrepreneurial technology community as points of interests for attracting people to the city. Olver and Stanek agreed with Ramirez that state university system has and will continue to play a significant role in the development of the current workforce into strong and capable workers.

Ramirez stated, “We’re a little bit too humble about the assets our city has; we need to talk about that a little more.  Just having that little bit of swagger in our step helps with that younger generation and attracting people to the city.”

CEO Austin Ramirez has lead HUSCO International to become a global leader in the development and manufacture of hydraulic and electrohydraulic controls. Recently receiving the 2014 Espiritu de la Comunidad Award from Ford for exceptional leadership and service to the Hispanic community and the 2014 Wisconsin Business of the Year Award, the hard work and innovation instilled by the CEO to his employees is paying off.
