HUSCO Ranks High in the Milwaukee Area

HUSCO International is number one on the list of minority-owned companies in the Milwaukee area and comes in 21st on the list for the area’s largest privately owned businesses. With approximately $325,000,000 in revenue, Waukesha-based HUSCO ranks with such names as Northwestern Mutual and Robert W. Baird, just to name a few.

“HUSCO’s tremendous growth is driven by our ability to provide our customers with innovative products that simultaneously increase fuel efficiency, improve performance and reduce system cost,” explains Austin Ramirez, president and CEO.

Building on an industry-recognized reputation of partnering with construction equipment manufacturers to design and build highly efficient, reliable and cost-effective hydraulic mobile control technologies, HUSCO has also enjoyed a rapidly growing business in automotive markets focused on reducing emissions and improving the fuel economy of passenger cars. While the industries may have different needs, HUSCO has applied its well-known reputation for high quality components and technical expertise to generate industry-leading growth in both areas.

In the 27 years since Agustin (Gus) Ramirez, Jr. led a management buyout of HUSCO from Koehring/AMCA, the company has seen steady expansion from being a niche manufacturer to a global industry leader. The company has expanded its manufacturing across the globe with locations in China, India and the UK, employing 1350 employees in total – 600 of which are in the Milwaukee area. The company is poised for significant future growth with the launch of several innovative cost-effective green product lines in 2013-14.

Both the lists of the largest Milwaukee-area minority-owned businesses and largest Milwaukee-area private companies are published by The Business Journal of greater Milwaukee and appear in their October 19th issue. The Journal compiles the standings yearly from businesses based in the 7-county Milwaukee area and arranges the companies by total revenue.
